* [LICHEN Pt.1] A Short History of Rock Tripe
The Likeable Lichen
As I work on completing the final few pages of the Canine Revolution, Part 1 from my graphic novel project, I thought I’d put out an offering plate in order to satiate the comics-hungry public.
Here are the first 5 pages of my short (15 page) “ethno-lichenology.” This short comic covers the surprisingly rich history of an obscure edible lichen. From Arctic explorers to Revolutionary War soldiers, rock tripe frequently turns up throughout history in both the survival narratives and on the menus of cultures around the world.
I love everything about this, maybe most of all the name “rock tripe”! So poetic and so fitting. I learned so many new things. Thank you!
